New Book Feedback Comments (in full):

“We have been stocking the cat professional series of books for a couple of years now and use them as a free of charge gift for particular clients. It generates massive goodwill and the owners of such cases seem to genuinely appreciate it. The books are well laid out and easy on the eye, and the content is excellent. This both reassures the client of the level of care our practice provides, and provides the client with a valuable source of trusted background information.”

I first came across these books a couple of years ago and browsed through “Caring for your cat with kidney failure” and “Caring for a cat with lower urinary tract disease” and thought what good books they were and what I liked were that they were easy to read.
Then in 2009 I got a bit of a scare as I thought my cat was getting a Renal Problem, and I remembered the book, I this time read it from cover to cover and even though I have been a Veterinary Nurse for far more years than I would like to remember this book taught me so much more than I already knew, and I didn’t need to remember my days of A&P, the book is written so anyone can not only read but understand it.
I got some great tips as well on how to help your cat, eg did you ever think about liquidising prawns and making prawn water to encourage your cat to drink more!!  I’m sure most VN’s and practice staff are aware of Water Fountains for your cat but are our clients, and these are wonderful to encourage your cat to drink. I enjoyed this book so much I went onto read the one on FLUTD which measured up to be as good as the Renal one.

This got me thinking that if they helped me after over 25 years of nursing they would help clients, some books were purchased from Cat Professional and are sold in the practice that I work.  When I see blood reports or if I am aware of a new case of FLUTD, I send the client a letter explaining all about the book and how useful it would be, also on the food labels ie renal/urinary food, at the bottom of the label it reads how there is a useful book available to help learn about either Renal or FLUTD, these books have been sold to some dedicated and caring clients and I know they would have helped.
Every practice should be selling these books to their clients, they are informative, easy to read and what’s more easy to understand, and the more clients that have these books the more cats will be helped and live a longer better life.”

‘Few veterinary nursing textbooks are dedicated solely to cats, so the series of “Caring for cats ...” books are proving to be very popular with our veterinary nursing students. They provide enough clinical detail for our students to understand the conditions and provide lots of background information for them to pass on to anxious clients.  The colourfully presented theme of each book helps to engage students and provides a valuable summary of the veterinary nursing process from diagnosis to practical care’.
